Kitchen Usage Policies & Guidelines
Everyone is expected to read, understand and follow the kitchen guidelines & policies. The use of the CUMC kitchen is restricted to the date & time reserved. A brief orientation of the kitchen equipment is required in order to ensure safe use of all CUMC equipment & appliances. The orientation must be scheduled with a member of Gatekeepers prior to the event (if time allows, this can occur just prior to the scheduled event – please allow 30 minutes). Misconduct or failure to follow stated policies can result in suspension of kitchen privileges and expulsion from the facility.
1.No one under 18 years of age may operate kitchen appliances.
2.Youth should be supervised if assisting in the kitchen or cleaning up.
3.A member of the Gatekeepers committee must be present to oversee use of the kitchen facilities & equipment.
4.Spills on the floor should be cleaned up as they occur to prevent falls.
5.Consumption of alcohol or drugs, fighting, disruptive behavior or “horseplay” is not allowed in the kitchen.
Cleanliness & Hygiene:
1.No animals are allowed in the kitchen.
2.Individuals working in the kitchen must present with clean clothing, clean hair & must be wearing proper footwear. No one is allowed to sit on counters or work surfaces.
3.Hand washing: individuals must wash their hands before handling food, after using the restroom, after eating/drinking/blowing nose/smoking, after touching raw food or handling soiled equipment or utensils.
4.Individuals should clean & sanitize all surfaces & equipment that come in contact with food items.
5.Trash must be bagged & removed from the kitchen & placed in the dumpster at the rear of the parking lot.
6.Kitchen & equipment must be left in the same condition as before the event or additional cleaning fees may be incurred.
7.Please use the proper sinks for their specified purpose (i.e. hand washing, food cleaning, cleaning dirty dishes or soiled equipment).
1.Consumable items are for the use of CUMC groups only.
2.Additional charges will apply to defray the replacement cost of any consumable items (i.e. paper plates, disposable cups, disposable silverware, paper towels, napkins, condiments) used by non-CUMC groups.
Specified Use Areas & Equipment:
1.Individuals may only use the facilities, areas & equipment which were approved on the usage request.
2.The use of Refrigerators & Freezers is limited to designated shelves/spaces; otherwise they are not for use by non-CUMC groups.
3.Individuals may only use the facilities, areas & equipment for the specified time & date as outlined on the usage request. If additional time is required, arrangements for access must be made in advance with a Gatekeeper.
4.Supplies, food & equipment left in the kitchen after the scheduled use period shall be disposed of – CUMC is not responsible for storing any items left by user groups.
5.The kitchen must be clean & vacated by 10:00 pm the day of the event.
6.CUMC property may not be removed from the premises.
7.Inventory control: user will be responsible for replacing missing items and equipment.
8.The cost to repair/replace damaged equipment due to improper use or negligence will be the responsibility of the user & shall be deducted from the security deposit. If the cost exceeds the amount of the deposit, the group/individual shall be billed the difference.
1.CUMC shall not be liable for any damages to either person or property sustained by any individual/group arising from a) use, operation or occupancy of the CUMC kitchen facility or any portion thereof, or b) the distribution or use of any product produced or served at the CUMC kitchen facility. The user covenants & agrees to indemnify, defend & hold harmless CUMC & it’s representatives from any & all claims, costs & liabilities arising from or in connection with damages or injuries to persons (including death) or property arising from the above.
2.Individuals/groups are required to provide proof of insurance & the church must be named as an additional insured.
3.CUMC is not responsible for the personal property of any individual/group using the facilities.
4.User agreements are not transferable to any other party or individual & the use is restricted to the conditions agreed herein.
Food Preparation & Serving Guidelines:
1.No food or drinks with red dyes may be served on the premises.
2.Food or drinks are not allowed in the gathering area. Please restrict consumption to the multipurpose room.
